Michael Mayer Obituary, Death – Michael J. Mayer, 47, passed away on July 30, 2026, while doing what he loved most riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His passing has left his family, friends, coworkers, and the Council Bluffs community mourning the loss of a man whose life was defined by love for his family, generosity toward others, and an unmistakable passion for life.
Born on June 6, 1979, Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. Above all else, he treasured his family, finding his greatest happiness in the moments he shared with those he loved.
His cherished granddaughter, Mia “Mimi” Rose, held a special place in his heart, and he embraced every opportunity to spend time with her. Michael’s love, encouragement, and unwavering support created countless memories that his family will carry with them forever.
Michael embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles, dirt track racing, fast cars, bowling, and, in his younger years, hunting and fishing. A proud graduate of Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, he competed in both wrestling and football.
He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Nebraska Cornhuskers football, and enjoyed cheering on his favorite dirt track driver, Kyle Berck. As a proud member of the Defiance Harley-Davidson HOG Chapter, he formed lasting friendships through his shared love of motorcycles and the open road.
Throughout his career, Michael worked in roles focused on helping others. He was employed by Genie Pest Control, Cox Communications, Bank of the West/BMO, and most recently served as a Customer Service Representative with United Concordia Dental (UCCI).
Coworkers and customers alike appreciated his friendly personality, sense of humor, and willingness to go the extra mile for others.
Michael never met a stranger. Whether discussing motorcycles, racing, football, politics, or proudly talking about his family, he had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Known for his generous heart, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Together with his wife, Connie, he opened their home to countless children over the years, ensuring there was always room for one more at the table. His kindness, hospitality, and selflessness created a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

- Numerous extended family members, bonus children, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Uncle Mark Morrison, his parents-in-law, Carl and Janice Mumma, and his brother-in-law, Craig Mumma.
